Community Over Competition
It’s hard to believe that I am a “Woman in Business” when I still feel just like a “Woman in Chaos”. Between Maintain, Fluff Studios, and family life, it’s hard to identify with one specific role. But here I am, a woman in business. A business woman if you will. As a fellow female business owner, I’m sure you know the importance of supporting other women. We’ve all been in a room full of women where it seems as if we are in a game of musical chairs. There aren’t enough seats for everyone and everyone wants a seat. Everyone is clamoring and clawing for their tiny spot in the sun. But it’s time to shift that mindset and start embracing community over competition. This philosophy can help you build relationships that will benefit everyone involved! Let’s take a look at why this is so important.

Why Community Over Competition Matters

There are countless amazing women out there who have achieved success in their respective fields, and the best way to get ahead is to join forces with them rather than competing against them. By working together, we can learn from each other, brainstorm new ideas, share resources, and collaborate on projects. This creates an environment of support and encouragement that can help us all reach our goals faster and more efficiently. Plus, it makes networking events far more enjoyable!

In addition to building relationships with other entrepreneurs, community over competition means supporting the businesses of your peers as well as your own. Buy their products and services when possible; leave reviews for them on social media; refer them to potential clients; share their content; etc. When we all lift each other up in this way, there is enough success for everyone!

How To Put Community Over Competition Into Practice

It’s one thing to understand why community over competition matters—but putting it into practice is another story entirely. Here are a few tips that can help you do just that.

  • Celebrate the wins of others: Congratulate other female business owners when they achieve something great—it will make them feel supported and appreciated, plus it will remind you that success is possible for everyone!
  • Connect with like-minded people: Join communities devoted to entrepreneurship (like Facebook groups), attend conferences/networking events geared toward female business owners, etc. This will help you form meaningful relationships with people who understand what you are going through on your journey as an entrepreneur.
  • Focus on collaboration rather than comparison: Instead of comparing yourself to others or feeling envious when someone else succeeds, focus on how you can work together to create something new or powerful. You never know what amazing things could come from a joint venture!
At the end of the day, community over competition is all about showing up for each other and celebrating successes together—not competing against one another at every turn. It takes effort but it pays off big time in terms of relationship building and professional growth opportunities. So don’t be afraid to reach out and support your fellow female business owners—you may just find yourself part of an amazing network full of inspiring women who are ready to cheer each other on!
